Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?
To cancel a lesson I require at least 24 hours notice.
For cancellations with less than 24 hours notice the full lesson fee is payable.

In the unlikely event that I need to cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours notice your next lesson is free of charge.

Why are your fees higher than some other tutors?

I tutor professionally and have nearly 30 years’ experience teaching A-Level Maths and Further Maths full time. My lessons draw on extensive classroom and individual teaching experience, and my rigorous exam-focused style is tailored to getting the very best out of my students. The results they achieve speak for themselves!

As a parent, consider that a higher initial outlay could result in your son or daughter getting into their first choice university and ultimately a career and salary they can be proud of. For many students, the right support at A-Level can make a significant difference to their confidence, grades and university options.

How much does it cost?

£95 per hour for online GCSE, A-Level Maths and Further Maths tuition.

Do you offer tuition in A-Level Further Maths?

Yes. I offer A-Level Further Maths tuition for the Edexcel specification. Because Further Maths includes a range of optional papers, please get in touch to discuss your particular requirements and the papers you are studying.

Which Exam Boards do you teach?

I am an Edexcel A-Level Maths and Further Maths specialist and can also teach the OCR A Specification.

Do you offer tuition at GCSE Level?

Yes. I mainly tutor A-Level Maths, but I also work with Y11 GCSE and IGCSE students aiming for grades 7, 8 or 9. I can also help with Further GCSE Mathematics and CIE Additional Mathematics.

Do you offer tuition in other subjects?

I specialise in Mathematics rather than offering tuition across a wide range of subjects. However, I’m part of a network of trusted professionals whom I have worked alongside for many years. If you need help with other subjects it’s likely I can put you in touch with the right person.

What happens in a typical lesson?

I’ll start by asking you where you feel your weakest areas are and go from there. If I sense some of the foundations are lacking I'll go back and close any gaps first. You can be assured that I will maximise the time we have together by covering as many examples as we can. As the lesson progresses I will gradually pull back and give you greater control, allowing you to think for yourself. A significant part of my teaching is based on exam questions so that lesson time is used as effectively as possible, while giving you plenty of opportunities to practise questions on your own outside of our sessions.

What do I need to get started?

All lessons are conducted over Zoom, so you only need a laptop or PC with audio and video capability. I provide everything else. At the end of each session, you’ll receive detailed lesson notes which you can access at any time via a shared drive.

I’m not sure if online tuition is for me?

I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson so you can see whether online tuition works for you, with no obligation to continue if you decide it isn't right for you.
